Yesterday I found a cool feature hidden under google search preferences called Open search results in a new browser window.

Google Search offers this quite useful feature of opening search results you click on, get opened in a new tab in firefox or in a new window in internet explorer.

Why To Open Search Results in new window ?

We all use google for searching information and when we search for any information, we get a number of search results, and deciding which search result out of all those search results is best involves checking out some of them.

In order to check the search results we used to right click that search result and select open in a new window.

But, it becomes quite tedious when you right click on every new search result to open in new window.

With google search preferences you can set this cool feature to Open search results in a new browser window with single mouse left click.

Net Send is such cool command comes with windows XP which you can use through command prompt or run. It is a simple command which comes bundled with windows which can send messages over Winpopup protocol.

It also depends on a windows Messenger Service which needs to be running state so that the net send can transfer the messages.

Why did Microsoft remove Net Send in vista?

As the messenger can used to spam by sending text messages which appear as message text boxes on the receiving end computer. The winpopup protocol did not have any authentication or security, which allows pop up windows to obstruct users desktops on windows.

So. the only way out left is to remove net send completely from newer versions of windows like windows vista.

It happens some times when you may want to check whether a email id on which you want to send an important mail exists or not.

The most simple method would be to send a test mail first and check if you receive a failure mail delivery receipt, but sometimes you can’t even send a test email as the email id could be of your boss or someone whom you may not feel comfortable sending test email to test the email id validity.

I have been using firefox for a long time but some times, I need to use internet explorer for some purposes but always missed the my firefox bookmarks in firefox and after I started using firefox 3 it becomes more difficult to play with firefox bookmarks.

But Yesterday, I found a free utility 🙂 called FavTool which can convert the firefox bookmarks ( used by firefox ) into Microsoft Internet Explorer and vice versa also.

It lets you import your firefox bookmarks as internet explorer favourites or export your internet explorer favourites as bookmarks in firefox.

There are some instances when you may want to delete a specific file from your computer permanently so that no one can access that file even after using any method to recover that file.

UltraShredder is a small freeware program which deletes any sensitive file which you specify and prevents its recovery by overwriting them with random characters.

You will need to add files which you want to shred or permanently delete from your system by dragging the files on the UltraShredder window and press Shred! button to shred that file.
