Assign Window + hotkeys to quick launch items in win XP with HotKeyBind

Today I have come up with a tweak that I wanted to implement in windows xp from a long time, and today after reading a post on how to geek I got idea to implement it, Thanks how to geek

What I wanted to do?

I want to set the keyboard shortcuts for quick launch items in Windows XP same like as it is there in Windows Vista where all the quick launch items can be launched with the hot keys Win + 1 ,Win +2 and so on according to the order they appear.

You can easily implement this tweak on Windows XP too with an application called HotKeyBind.

What is HotKeyBind?

HotKeyBind is a program that lets you use different hotkeys (shortcut key combinations) to do common tasks: opening a web page, launching applications, opening files and opening your quick launch items with hot keys which you can set.

Let’s see how can you do this.

Create shortcuts without the default prefix Shortcut TO

We have just received a mail from one of the readers regarding a tweak which a user want to implement.

Vikram says: "I want to create shortcuts on my desktop without the default text Shortcut to"

This happens when a user selects a file or program right click on it and select create desktop shortcut. ( a shortcut is created on the desktop with a default syntax shortcut to <program or file folder name> ).

There can be two ways through which we can implement this tweak to solve this problem.

It is due to the windows registry which always add the text Shortcut to with each and every shortcut we create on the desktop.

Find out your buddies digi Cam Model with flickr

These days, I have started some photo sharing on flickr. I must say its a great place to share your photos with your friends online.

Flickr offers cool features like tagging photo’s creating different sets of photos 😛 but as I am using a free account it poses a limited bandwidth of 100 mb per month photo upload and some other limitations also. But now, I am so much convinced with the promising features, that very soon I will be buying a pro account of flickr.

Recently I was looking a pictures shared by Brajeshwar of Barcamp 3 Mumbai , I noticed an option which you may or may not be aware. It tells by which camera this photo has been taken. ( as shown in the image below)

But still none of them were so much powerful in their freeware mode, then I found ClipX which is completely free.

How to get the password for microsoft access protected file

It happens some time when you lost the password for a database microsoft access file.

As file is password protected so it will not open up without the correct password entered, in order to solve the problem you can simply use a free password revealing utility by nirsoft.net

It’s called Access PassView, the only limitation with this program is that it works for every password-protected mdb file that created with Microsoft Access 95/97/2000/XP.
